In my health care practice, I see patients with all kinds of opinions.
These days, many people are outwardly political.
And, of course, that’s fine.
Regardless of whether a person supported Trump or Harris, Republicans or Democrats, we provide them health care to the best of our ability and training.
Personally, I am not a politically-oriented person. However, if I were, I’d keep my opinions to myself, certainly at the clinic, and most likely in the rest of my life as well.
After all, we have a Secret Ballot in the United States, and that itself is a Sacred National Institution.
So, no politics from me. Really.
As I understood the Best Practices and agreed upon values of educators everywhere, having a degree in education and years of experience teaching kids and adults, , there is nothing wrong with a sign stating that everyone is welcome pasted on the wall of a classroom. How could there ever be?
What are the implications of this?
School administrators are taking a dangerous turn in stating that it’s just a “personal opinion.”
Sadly, educators worldwide would assert otherwise; this is the foundation of modern society.
So, which students aren’t the faculty, teachers, or whomever interested in serving?
That is really what we should be asking.

Who, precisely, does not believe this is an unalterable truth?
Shouldn’t that be brought to light, and if it’s teachers or faculty, shouldn’t a process be initiated to swiftly commence their removal?
I’ve seen such signs at clinics. Will these be coming down as well, to accommodate the views of bigots and racists, sparing them challenges to their distorted worldview?
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that such a sign might one day be considered merely an “opinion.”
Guess what?
In the United States, all children are welcome in the classroom.
And, if you think differently, maybe you’ve overstayed your ancestors’ welcome here and it’s time to move along.
Will we soon see the same sentiment expressed in the Medical setting?
At this point, with people scratching and clawing at one another to make the grossest possible impression publicly, we might just see something akin to this.
Perhaps, it will be worse. However, I’m expecting it.
You don’t have to embrace bigotry.
You can abhor hate!
And, never confuse passivity with assertiveness!
Be assertive and fight for the weakest amongst us! Don’t listen to the morally decrepit nonsense emanating from the newly-rich-rabble-rousers.
Make the bigots uncomfortable.
Let them have to leave the U.S. and found their racist utopia elsewhere.
We’re just not interested.
And, if you witness acts as of bigotry, remember it’s your duty, health care providers and educators, to report this sick behavior and speech.
Don’t let anyone get away with this.
It’s not their right, and it’s absolutely, your right to and duty, to report.
Knocking someone out is beyond your rights, but if one of these biased individuals begins pushing, remember to defend yourself and don’t let them get away with it.
Don’t budge an inch.
